We were blessed to have a team of young, talented attorneys visit Lifehouse, yesterday evening. They were here to help prepare important documents. As part of the on-going personal finance class each of our young women attends, we discuss various long-term considerations.
These attorneys provided their services pro-bono. They worked individually with our residents to begin drafting Wills, Power of Attorney documents and important healthcare directives. These documents are valuable for anyone, but especially for our young women and their children.
As part of our program, we will now be able to provide each new Lifehouse Maternity Home resident with similar documentation.
Many young people often overlook issues such as, designating whom they wish to provide for their children if they were to become incapacitated. Some of our residents may have special mementos or other items they would like to pass to specific family members or friends. This is especially important when the resident is considered a legal adult.
No one wants to think about something bad happening.
However, as we prepare our program participants to become strong, independent, confident women, we want them to have the satisfaction of knowing have the ability handle important issues.
